InterLibrary Loans and Document Delivdery for DiGSPES USERS
What are ILL (InterLibrary Loans) and DD (Document Delivery)?
The Interlibrary Loan service allows our users to ask other Italian and foreign libraries for the loan of books not owned by our library.
The Document Delivery service allows our users to receive copies of scientific articles published in journals that our library does not have, from other libraries.
According to the legislation on copyright, reproductions cannot exceed 15% of the entire volume or issue of the periodical and are granted exclusively for personal use; their distribution and commercial use are prohibited.
Who can use the interlibrary services?
-
all institutional users of the library: students, professors, researchers, technical-administrative staff and staff in various roles at the Department
Such services are not carried out directly for private individuals.
How do the ILL and DD service work?
InterLibrary Loan
How can I make a request?
- You can send an email to ill.digspes@uniupo.it
In the email, specify your details (name, surname, institutional email and telephone number), those of the book / books you wish to request (title, author, publisher, year of publication), your agreement to bear any possible reimbursement costs.
- You can come to the library
The librarians will procure the volumes and notify you when they arrive or in the event of problems in delivery.
How many requests can I make?
You can have up to 3 requests in progress at the same time, composed of volumes and / or articles according to your priorities (NOT 3 volumes + 3 articles); you will be able to make further requests as the requested material arrives.
When you receive the books, consult them thoroughly and write down all the data you need, because it is not permitted to ask for the same book more than once in the same year.
How much does the service cost?
The service is usually free.
Only if the library that lends the book asks for a fee will the costs be at your expense; in this case, before confirming the request you will be notified and have to make the payment before collecting the book, in the manner indicated in the email.
You will need to pay even if you do not come to collect the book when it arrives.
Reimbursement of expenses can vary from 4 to 8 euros for requests to libraries in Italy, while for abroad it can exceed 8 euros.
What are the time requirements of the service (arrival, collection, duration of the loan, return)?
The time for arrival of books may vary according to the logistics of the lending libraries and postal services; calculate, on average, 10-15 days from the activation of the loan for requests to libraries in Italy and a slightly longer time for requests sent abroad.
The librarians will notify you when the volumes arrive and you will have to collect them at the information and loan point in the library.
The duration and conditions of the loan of the books are established by the lending library. A loan period of about 20 days is generally granted and home loan is possible.
However, some libraries ask that the volumes be consulted only on site, within our library.
To return the books, use the red box in the atrium of Palazzo Borsalino in compliance with the indicated loan deadlines.
